Meditation Courses

We offer a series of courses designed to help the student progress from the basic beginner level to more advanced levels. By moving through these courses, the student will have the opportunity to thoroughly study the Stages of the Path as taught by Buddha. In keeping with the Mahamudra Tradition, the first courses will help the student develop a firm foundation of understanding that will enable them to move on to the higher levels of study and practice. The courses will feature meditation instruction that is based upon Buddhist philosophy.

What is a Meditation Advisor

A meditation advisor is an experienced student at the Palpung Yeshe Chökhor Meditation Centre. She or he is a senior student and a dedicated practitioner who has been appointed to the role of meditation advisor by Lama Karma Phuntsok. An advisor will guide and help you with your practice and be available to offer practical advice and answer questions you may have. They will serve as a resource for you and will offer helpful suggestions based on your own path. They will act as your Spiritual Friend and also be a source of information about the Centre and the greater Karma Kagyü community. Meditation advisors work with students who aspire to develop an on-going spiritual practice. They are available to give one-to-one instruction to newcomers, share their knowledge about readings, practice and the Dharma teachings. They can help by listening and discussing their experiences with you. Your relationship with a meditation advisor will change and develop as your path progresses. Your advisor can also change. An advisor serves many functions, depending on your direction and needs. The method and time that is spent together will vary. Students can connect through email, personal meetings, or by telephone.
